Darwin's Arch (Spanish: Arco de Darwin) was a natural rock arch located southeast of Darwin Island in the Galapagos Archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, now reduced to a pillar formation. The arch rested on a rocky, submerged plateau with an irregular shape, often referred to as "the theatre." On May 17, 2021, the arch collapsed into the sea due to natural erosion. Both Darwin's Arch and the nearby Darwin Island were named in honor of the English naturalist Charles Darwin, whose research in the region contributed to his theory of evolution by natural selection. As a tribute to Darwin and his work, some locals and professionals have dubbed the remaining stone structures "The Pillars of Evolution" (Spanish: Los Pilares de la Evolución).
