Starting July 29, 2025, all travelers and crew members entering or leaving Ecuador must fill out a digital Customs Registration Form (FRA). This form, issued by Ecuador’s National Customs Service (SENAE), aims to strengthen border controls and prevent crimes such as money laundering. Although it’s been available as a pilot since December 2024, the FRA will now become mandatory at all airports, seaports, and land border crossings.

What you need to know:

  • The form must be filled out online up to 3 days before your trip.
  • You’ll need to enter your personal information, travel details, and declare if you’re carrying over $10,000 in cash, jewelry, or other high-value items.
  • Once completed, you’ll receive a QR code, which you must show to customs agents when entering or leaving Ecuador.

What happens if you don’t submit it?

Failing to complete the form can lead to fines, confiscation of items, and even legal penalties under Ecuadorian law.

Where do you complete the form?

You can access the form directly through the official SENAE website: https://www.aduana.gob.ec/servicio-al-ciudadano/formulario-de-registro-aduanero/login/

Don’t leave it to the last minute. Complete your FRA ahead of time and keep your QR code handy for a smooth travel experience. And if you got questions about this new requirement or how it might affect travel to the Galapagos? Drop us a message, we’re happy to help!
